What stops the AI from saying something wrong to my customers?
What we do so your AI can't embarrass you
Most people who ask us about an AI assistant are not excited. They are nervous. They have seen a chatbot invent a refund policy, or promise something the business never offered, and they do not want their name on that.
That is the right thing to worry about. So rather than reassure you, here is what we actually build, and where you can check it for yourself.
1. It answers from what you approved, and nothing else
Your assistant cannot invent an answer, because it was never given the ability to.
A lot of AI chat tools work by sending your customer's question to a large AI model and letting it write a reply. That model is fluent, confident, and perfectly willing to make something up when it does not know. That is where the horror stories come from.
We build the opposite. Your assistant answers from a list of facts you approved: your services, your prices, your hours, your policies. If a question matches something you approved, it gives that answer. If it does not, it does not guess.
This is a real limitation and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Your assistant will not charm anyone with a clever answer to an unusual question. It will get the ordinary questions right every time and hand the unusual ones to you, which is the trade we think a small business actually wants.
2. When it does not know, it says so and gets you
The handoff is not a failure. It is a lead.
If your assistant cannot answer, it asks one clarifying question. If it still cannot answer, it stops and offers to put the customer in touch with a person.
That moment is worth more than the answer would have been. Someone who asked a question your approved list did not cover is someone with an unusual need, and now you have their details and a reason to call them back. The thing that looks like the system falling short is usually the most valuable thing it does all week.
You also learn something. Questions that keep reaching handoff are the gaps in what you have published, and they tell you what to add next.
3. Your customers' conversations do not leave their browser
We could not read your customers' chats if we wanted to. We never receive them.
The assistant on a Bridge Builders site runs on the visitor's own device. When someone types a question, it is answered there. It is not sent to us, and it is not sent to an AI company.
This is not a promise about how carefully we handle data. It is a statement about where the work happens. There is no copy of your customers' conversations on our side to lose, leak, or be asked to hand over, because one was never made.
It also means you do not need an account with an AI provider, you have no usage bill that grows with your traffic, and there is no third party in the middle of a conversation with your customer.
4. For phone calls, nothing records until the caller agrees
Not a policy we follow. A control that makes it impossible.
Recording a phone call without consent is a serious matter in a lot of places, and it is the business owner who carries that, not the software vendor.
So our AI receptionist does not treat consent as a step in a checklist. The caller hears who they are speaking to, that it is an AI, and what will happen if they continue. Nothing is recorded, transcribed, or sent anywhere until they actively press a key to agree. Pressing nothing, saying nothing, or staying on the line does not count. If they change their mind partway through, they can press a key and it stops.
The reason we built it that way is simple: a rule written in a document can be skipped by a tired person at eleven at night. A rule built into the software cannot.
See the code that enforces itWe published it. You do not have to take our word for how it works, and neither does anyone else.
5. Everything is in your name, including the exit
You can fire us on a Tuesday and keep working on Wednesday.
Your domain, your hosting, your phone number, your payment processing: all of it is set up in accounts that belong to you, paid by you, controlled by you. We do the work and walk you through it. We do not resell it back to you with a markup.
That means you can remove our access yourself, without asking, at any time. Nothing of yours is held on our side as leverage.
We would rather earn the next month than trap you into it.
None of this makes an AI assistant right for every business. If you have no repeat questions and no missed calls, you do not need one, and we will tell you so.
But if you do want one, you should know what it can and cannot do before it is answering your customers. That is the whole point of this page.
